Written Exam Pattern 2025
The written examination will be conducted via OMR (Offline Mode). It will consist of a single objective-type question paper.
- Marking Scheme: Each question carries 01 Mark.
- Question Type: Objective Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).
- Qualifying Marks: Candidates scoring less than 25% will not be eligible for enrollment.
Detailed Syllabus: General Knowledge
The questions will be based on the following topics as specified in Appendix-1 of the notification:

2. Geography, Population & Environment
- Population, Environment & Urbanization (जनसंख्या, पर्यावरण एवं नगरीकरण)
- Geography of India & World Geography (भारत का भूगोल तथा विश्व भूगोल)
- Natural Resources of Uttar Pradesh (उ०प्र० के प्राकृतिक संसाधन)
3. Uttar Pradesh Specific Knowledge
- Education, Culture & Social Practices of UP (उ०प्र० की शिक्षा संस्कृति और सामाजिक प्रथाओं के सम्बन्ध में विशिष्ट जानकारी)
- Revenue, Police & General Administration System in UP (उ०प्र० में राजस्व, पुलिस व सामान्य प्रशासनिक व्यवस्था)
- Important Fairs & Festivals of UP (उ०प्र० में आयोजित प्रमुख मेले एवं स्थानीय त्योहार)
4. Current Affairs & Miscellaneous
- Human Rights (मानवाधिकार)
- Internal Security & Terrorism (आंतरिक सुरक्षा तथा आतंकवाद)

Candidates who qualify the Physical Standard Test (PST) will appear for the Physical Efficiency Test (Running). This test is of Qualifying Nature (No Marks).

1. What is the syllabus for UP Home Guard Exam 2025?
The written exam consists of a single paper on General Knowledge. Topics include General Science, Indian History, Constitution, Geography, UP Specific GK, and Current Affairs.
2. What is the physical running capability required?
Male candidates must run 4.8 Km in 28 minutes. Female candidates must run 2.4 Km in 16 minutes.
3. What is the height requirement for General/OBC candidates?
Male candidates require a minimum height of 168 cm, and Female candidates require 152 cm.
4. Is there any weight requirement?
Yes, for Female candidates only, a minimum weight of 40 Kg is required.
5. What is the total duration and marks for the written exam?
The exam duration is 2 Hours (120 Minutes) for 100 Questions carrying 100 Marks.
6. What are the minimum qualifying marks?
Candidates obtaining less than 25% marks in the written examination will not be eligible for the next stage.
7. Are there any bonus marks available?
Yes, preference marks are given for NCC 'B'/'C' certificates, Scout & Guide, Aapda Mitra training, and possessing a valid Driving License.
8. Is the exam online or offline?
The exam will be conducted in Offline Mode (OMR Based) with objective-type multiple-choice questions.
9. What is the chest measurement standard for males?
For Gen/OBC/SC males: 79 cm (Unexpanded) to 84 cm (Expanded). For ST males: 77 cm to 82 cm.
10. Does the Physical Efficiency Test (Running) carry marks?
No, the Physical Efficiency Test is of Qualifying Nature only. No marks are awarded for running; candidates just need to complete it within the time limit.
